The Making of the Chess Set - Part III

With everything cutout, sanded, stained and ready to go, time to put it all together. I also cut out 3 additional sides for the chessboard out of 1-1/2" x 1/4" oak ,to go with the name I cut out earlier, and tapered the front and back pieces. All 4 pieces were then glued to the edges of the chessboard then a simple lauan base to the bottom. Clamps all over the place!

All said and done, here is the finished piece! It was a lot of fun to do, but I don't think I will be doing this on a regular basis, lol... Hope you enjoyed the pics!!!
